It's FUN • It's EDUCATIONAL • It's AMAZING

Our 2008 Theme: Connecticut Firsts
Each year we have a different theme and new design for you!
This year’s theme is all about surprising and interesting events
and inventions that happened in Connecticut first.

  • Did you know the first Frisbie was thrown in New Haven? (What else would you expect a college student to do with an empty pie tin from Mrs. Frisbie’s
    Pie shop? )
  • Invented over 100 years ago, and hardly changed at all since, the ubiquitous electric plug and socket we still use today were both invented in Bridgeport.
  • The first fresh Graham Cracker is now nearly 180 years old! The famous family recipe was created by Sylvester Graham of West Suffield in 1829.

Look at the picture and see if you can find a few more hints in the design.
Can you find a circus tent and the makings of a three-ring circus? How about a submarine? Look around and you may see the shape of Connecticut itself!
Maybe you can spot the big rollercoaster! You’ll find even more if you look--
and lots more if you come visit!

The Merrow Maze is Full of Fun. Fun for kids, interesting for adults, and worthwhile for everybody! Come visit and enjoy our educational corn maze in Storrs. Learn something new (or old!), get some fresh air, and most important, enjoy Connecticut!

Come discover a lot more fun and interesting Connecticut Firsts… but drive carefully: The police in Glastonbury were the first in the nation to use radar speed traps!

Merrow Maze is open this fall from noon to 5:00 Weekends and Holidays,
Late August through November 2, weather permitting.
If the weather is in doubt, just call ahead.
